Giving Day
May 17th is Giving Day 2026!
Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising event to
offer our gratitude to God,
celebrate St. Mary's community, and
support our ministries.
Each year the Vestry designates a particular focus for the Giving Day funds. Your gift this year will go to our new Outreach Endowment. Created by the Vestry in March, the Outreach Endowment is a new special fund started with an anonymous gift from a generous family in the parish.
What is an Outreach Endowment? An endowment is a fund that gives in perpetuity. All of the money in an endowment is invested and then the investment earnings allow a portion of the endowment to be used for the designated purpose. In this case the designated purpose is our outreach ministry. In alignment with the vision of the original donor, the Outreach Endowment resources will focus on housing initiatives for the first five years.
The Outreach Endowment started in March with nearly $300,000. Additionally, another parishioner has graciously offered a $100,000 Giving Day Challenge Grant! With your generosity, we should be well on our way to half a million dollars in this new Outreach Endowment. Typically, an Endowment allows for four to five percent of the fund total to be accessed each year, so every $100,000 in an Endowment produces four to five thousand in annual income to spend. With a half million dollars, we would have an additional $20,000-$30,000 each year to support our neighbors in need. As the Endowment continues to grow over the years, more money will be available to do more good work in the community.
