Food Pantry Ministries

We collect non-perishable food items for two local food pantries - FISH and the Episcopal Campus Ministry Student Food Pantry. Here is a list of food items that they could use:

  • Cooking Oils,

  • Canned proteins - tuna, chicken, beans (black, navy, and northern only. No peanut butter)

  • Shelf-stable tofu, protein bars

  • Canned fruit (NO applesauce or peaches)

  • Canned veggies (NO peas or corn)

  • Ethnic foods and all spices

  • Jams and Honey (NO homemade or repackaged)

The non-perishable food items may be left at St. Mary’s and they will be transported to the pantries by the Food Pantry Committee.

Episcopal Campus Ministry Student Food Pantry

The Rev. Ryan Baker-Fones, St. Mary’s Chaplain, helped with the transition of the Rev. Lainie Allen as she took on his former duties.

Lainie relocated from Dallas, TX in early October to begin a combined role - Chaplain for the Episcopal Campus Ministry which includes a Food Pantry and Rector at St Matthew's Parish.

Five students live at the ECM house. They are very happy to be having class onsite again and are jumping into intentional community together through shared meals and conversations. We meet Thursday evenings for a meal, spiritual discussion, and Eucharist/prayer. If you are interested in cooking (or purchasing food) and joining us, we'd LOVE it!

They also volunteer and donate to our Student Food Pantry, which operates Wednesdays and Thursdays from Grace Lutheran Church, 710 E 17th Ave, Eugene.

But it takes more than student volunteers to provide this feeding ministry for university students who experience food insecurity. It takes community volunteers too. Perhaps God is calling you to help in one or more of the following ways:

1. Priority - Wednesdays, 9:15-10 AM - Need a few regular "strong" volunteers to pick up food from Lane County Food Warehouse (Must lift up to 40 lbs).

2. Donate Needed Food Items (listed in first article above)

Together with kindness, we can continue making a real difference in an opportune season of students' lives! Mtr. Lainie Allen, Chaplain 214.304.9873 uochaplain@comcast.net
