Meet Our New Librarian

Peace and Grace to you, St. Mary’s Family!

My name is Kristyn Dodge. For those who don’t me, I attend the 11 AM service. I just graduated from Northwest Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in History and Christian Ministry. I am also the new Parish Librarian. I am honored to have been asked to serve my parish and to relieve Tom Beckstrand after so many years of loyal service. I am looking forward to spending time promoting what has been a lifelong love for books!

As I just said, I really love books. I consider myself to be a Book Dragon as opposed to a Book Worm. My late grandmother taught me to read when I was 2 and was reading me chapter books by the time I was in kindergarten. Between literature and opera, my grandmother was one of the biggest influences in my early childhood. I always walk around with two books on my person and my headboard is covered in my “to read” section. I enjoy historical fiction, classical, horror, fantasy, and the occasional mystery novel. In my spare time, I tinker with a historical fiction novel I have been working on the past few years and I write Downton Abbey fanfiction. I am a tea snob, a theology nerd, a history nerd, and a hardcore Tolkien fan. Those who know me can attest that I live a shamelessly Hobbit lifestyle.

I’m excited to be offered to opportunity to bring this love of literature to you. I will be working to make our great collection even better. If you have suggestions or requests, please let me know! I look forward to meeting all of you and to discussing books. Soon I will set up hours so I can be on hand to assist in any way I can. If you have a question or need assistance outside of my hours, email me at kristyndodge@gmail.com. I am happy to help. Until then, I look forward to seeing each of you explore exotic lands, mysterious pasts, and breathing in the sweet perfumes of wisdom and knowledge! To quote my favorite historical figure and patron saint: “The more one learns about that which one knows nothing of, the more one gains in wisdom” ~St. Hildegard von Bingen

Yours in Christ. Kristyn.
