During his sabbatical Bingham will be praying the Office of Morning Prayer every morning. A great way for the parish to support him and for all of us to walk with Bingham through his time of reflection and renewal is to join him by saying Morning Prayer ourselves during May, June, and July.
There are lots of ways to participate. If your schedule allows, come to Morning Prayer in the Chapel at 8:30 AM every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Or use one of the forms in the Prayer Book: Daily Morning Prayer, Rite One starts on p. 37, Rite Two on p. 75, and there’s a briefer form for Daily Devotions in the Morning on p. 137. You can find these in the online Book of Common Prayer at http://www.bcponline.org/. Or download the electronic Common Prayer, Version 2.0 (eCP) for your iPhone, iPad, or Andriod device. You can find a description and link here: https://www.churchpublishing.org/products/electroniccommonprayerecp20. To find the readings and psalms for each day, look in the Daily Office Lectionary, towards the back of the Prayer Book or use the app.
Maybe you already have a favorite form of Morning Prayer that you use daily, either from the Book of Common Prayer or elsewhere, and you simply choose to remember Bingham in the daily prayers you already say. There’s great strength in shared prayer. Let’s put our support for Bingham into action by praying Morning Prayer together with him and each other during these three months, all over town!
