Summer Fun Fund - Supporting At-Risk Youth in Lane County

From Christmas stockings to summer activities, the Women of St. Mary’s support children throughout the year. From donations to fundraisers like the ECW table at the St. Mary’s Advent Fair, our funds grow, and we in turn distribute funds to help women and children in the community and beyond.

This year we are increasing our annual giving to Summer Fun Fund to $450. Will you help double that amount, triple that amount, quadruple that amount? Last year an additional $708 was given by parishioners. Children need good summer activities and the need to great. Let’s increase our giving.

This project of Church Women United and supported by various churches and individuals in Lane County gives all the donations to eight organizations that work with homeless and at-risk kids. Funds are used to give these kids the opportunity for day camps, summer recreation, swimming, fieldtrips, and other creative fun. Last year lots of fun happened close to home. One group added play equipment in their backyard, another created “Fun Baskets” filled with puzzles, board games, cards, books, picnic food, and a gift card for ice cream. Others provided lots of arts and crafts materials, or balls and other playground toys.

Phyllis Hockley, coordinator for Summer Fun Fund, reports: “What will this summer look like? By July some of the usual summer recreation may be available, but I am sure it will not be the same. I am sure it will be another challenging summer and contributions to the Summer Fun Fund will be most helpful. The gratitude is flowing.”

So make a donation to Summer Fun Fund. You can give online through our give page saint-marys.org/give or mail a check to the church. Be sure to designate SFF with your donation.
