Mark 10:17-31
Our Gospel reading today is the story of the Rich Young Ruler. Now, you may have noticed that the Gospel we read didn't say all of those things about him. We call him young, because Matthew said he was young. We call him a ruler, because Luke said he was a ruler. And we call him rich because all three - Matthew, Luke, and Mark - say that he had a lot of possessions. Whether young or old, whether a ruler or a normal everyday person, this man who came up to Jesus that day was deeply devout and sincere in his faith. He truly wanted to do what God wanted him to do.
