Since the 1980s, college students have had the opportunity to live in community at the Episcopal Campus Ministry House on E. 19th just south of the University of Oregon.
Over the years, a wide variety of students have lived at ECM House. Students from many parts of Oregon, the United States and from around the world have lived there. The religious affiliation of students has not only included Episcopalians, but also Catholics and members of other denominations. Each year is a new adventure, where people from a variety of backgrounds learn to live together.
We invite students to consider living at ECM House who are interested in living in an intentional community centered in weekly worship in the Episcopal tradition and a weekly dinner fellowship. Each resident shares in household responsibilities and is encouraged to take on some form of service, through the Student Food Pantry or some other opportunity for service.
We currently have three students living in the house along with our Assistant Chaplain, Kristyn Dodge. We have one bedroom available and we would love to welcome an additional member of the community by the beginning of Fall term in September.
One of the ways students hear about us is through word of mouth. Our most recent addition to our community came to us because a member of St. Mary’s mentioned ECM House to a friend who was looking for housing possibilities for the student. That indirect referral made it possible for this student to find a new home and for us at ECM House to welcome a new member of the community. You never know when you may have the opportunity to help someone when you share what you know about ECM.
To that end, we would like to invite you to an Open House at ECM, 1329 E. 19th on May 11th from 2 to 4 pm. We invite you to come and see the House and the Student Food Pantry. We invite you to come and learn more about this ministry from our Chaplain, Fr. Doug Hale and Assistant Chaplain, Kristyn Dodge. Come and meet students who are currently living at ECM and students who volunteer at the Student Food Pantry. Came enjoy some refreshments and conversation.
